Our house was the place to be for Halloween candy when I was a kid. My mom was sure to stock an endless supply of fun-sized candy bars (Snickers, Milky Way, KitKat, Twix...) AND she let everyone take two pieces. My favorite was Milky Way. I'd eat the chocolate from each side and then the nougat, saving the caramel for last. 

These days, I can't imagine eating a fun-sized candy bar. But I do still love creamy, chewy, crunchy bite sized treats!

My favorite way to indulge in something sweet is by stuffing a couple of medjool dates with lots of goodies. The combinations are endless, and I love trying to recreate candy bar versions! Trust me, a soft date + creamy cashew butter + a shard of super dark chocolate tastes just like a Milky Way :-) 

Stuffed Medjool Dates

Serves one

2 soft medjool dates, split open, pits removed

Filling + Topping Ideas:
Nut / seed butters (cashew, almond, walnut, peanut, sunflower...)
Coconut butter
Chopped raw nuts
Hemp seeds
Pumpkin seeds
Cacao nibs
Dark chocolate (80%+)
Goji berries
Dried apple slices (organic)
Banana chips (no sugar added)
Freeze dried fruit
Shredded unsweetened coconut
Puffed quinoa or millet
Flakey sea salt

Stuff each date with one teaspoon nut or coconut butter. Sprinkle the tops with whatever your heart desires.
